Vikram Sharma

Founder and CEO

Recognising the potential of quantum cybersecurity in the early 2000s, Vikram Sharma sought to commercialize the technology, returning to the Australian National University to work with the Quantum Optics Group in the Department of Physics. It is here where Q-Labs emerged. Prior to Q-Labs, Vikram had deep experience in building and managing technology companies, founding two successful IT start-ups. He holds a doctorate in quantum physics from The Australian National University.

Why it matters

Quantum computers will break current encryption in minutes

As quantum computing continues to develop (with $3B in capital poured into quantum technologies in 2021 alone), the threat it may pose to encrypted data is becoming increasingly real. Quantum cybersecurity needs to be enabled, fast.

How it works

Solutions that sit at the intersection of quantum and cyber

QuintessenceLabs is building powerful suite of security products enhanced by quantum science that enable organisations to protect their data. This includes a high performance centralised enterprise key and policy management, a high-speed true random number generator, an integrated hardware security module, and highly secure encryption for data in uncontrolled environments.

The WOW factor

The Wow Factor

By placing quantum at the heart of their technologies, Q-Labs have been able to achieve outstanding performance and true maximisation of security. For example, their Quantum Random Number generator that uses patented quantum technology to deliver unpredictable true random numbers at 1Gbit/sec, transforming the way that security keys are generated.
