Why it matters

Agriculture causes around 30% of all climate change, and we must produce 70% more food by 2050. Decarbonising while improving agricultural productivity is one of the most pressing issues facing civilisation.

How it works

Number8Bio enhance, customize, and scale-up natures solutions to carbon emissions and nutrition using synthetic biology. Their first products reduce methane emissions and improve productivity in cattle and sheep by scaling-up and reducing the cost of active molecules normally found in seaweed.

The WOW factor

The Wow Factor

Using a unique automated and miniaturised rumen model they developed in-house, Number8Bio screened hundreds of product variants to find a handful with the potential to completely eliminate methane emissions from earth's 2.6 billion cattle and sheep.
