Why it matters

A real and complete transition to clean energy requires a reliable method for storing renewable and excess captured energy.

How it works

MGA Thermal are producing blocks that revolutionise how renewable energy is stored for grid and industrial use.

The blocks consist of a special material called Miscibility Gap Alloy (MGA). MGA is highly conductive and rapidly distributes heat such that the particles remain in place as they absorb the heat energy and melt. As such, the block can store large amounts of thermal energy during the solid-liquid phase change and can release the energy with minimal loss as the particles cool. The result is continuous, safe, low cost, high capacity and sustainable energy storage.

The WOW factor

The Wow Factor

MGA Blocks are key to converting intermittent renewable energy like solar and wind, into affordable, sustainable and reliable heat for industrial applications. Purpose-built and engineered with metal alloy particles dispersed through a matrix material, these blocks harness the power of phase change to store and deliver energy at a constant temperature - up to 550°C. The result? Low-cost, safe, high-capacity heat with minimal footprint, and a reduced reliance on fossil fuels. It’s a game-changing solution for sustainable energy, delivered precisely where and when it’s needed.
